PK said this is well-known up in the North but I personally have never been exposed to this great sandwich filler. I was literally shook when I had my first bite. I loved it so much we had it for lunch three days in a row. I have written some of the basic ingredients you'll need on insta but here it is with exact measurements! 😝
Serves: 2 great sandwiches

4 slices of bread
1 can of tuna, drained
2tsp curry powder
1tsp chilli powder (optional)
Cracked black pepper to taste
Around 1.5 handfuls of grated mature cheddar, or more, up to you
In a bowl, mix the tuna, mayo, curry powder, chilli powder & black pepper using a spoon.
If you are using a toastie maker or a griller (e.g. George Foreman Grill) make sure that it is ready to go and sizzling.
Take 2 pieces of bread, and slather one side with the tuna mix. Generously sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Take the other piece of bread and lay it on top. Ensure that there are no bits of cheese or tuna coming out of the sides as we don't want this to get messy on the griller. Repeat for the other sandwich.
When ready, put it on your griller and leave it to toast for 3-4 minutes, checking it from time to time to ensure that it is not burnt!
Take it out when ready and cut the sandwich in 2, serve with a side salad if you want some greens. ENJOY HOT!
If you don't have a griller or a toastie maker, you can also do this in a pre-heated oven (180C degrees, top rack), and it will take slightly longer probably. Maybe around 6-7 mins to get the same melt effect?
Make this with a baguette to create a delicious panini 🥰
You can also add fresh spinach into the sandwich if you want or try other veg like lettuce or rocket to create some variations!
Trust me you don't need to add salt, tuna is already really salty k.
